Description

Neurodivergent Community Space

Mondays from 12 to 1 p.m. (Special first session on 1/22/2024 12 to 1 p.m. due to weather)

A twice a month peer-to-peer social and support space centering neurodivergent students co-facilitated by student staff in the Disability Outreach Center and LGBTQ+ Western. Gatherings include semi-structured conversations on monthly themes we agree upon, with simple journal prompts about all things neurodivergent! Together, we will help support the development of coping skills and help each other design a student life that is healthy, manageable, and a good pace, with room for rest and self-care. This is a space to make friends, offer support, and share within a safe place for free unmasking and stimming.

Gatherings occur in the Disability Outreach Center, a casual student hang and study space with cozy dim lighting and a box of stim toys (we also have snacks and tea). We make our own neurodivergent cozy haven and help each other learn how to love our neurodiversity and advocate for our needs and accommodations. The DOC is open 12-5pm Monday through Friday if anyone wants to study or get together outside of our scheduled meetings.
