Our Goals

  1. Create and deliver programs to support students’ life-long positive identity development, intercultural learning, and ability to effectively self-advocate and collaborate in solidarity for greater equity and justice.
  2. Create and deliver services to improve access to university resources and increase retention, satisfaction, and achievement for students with marginalized identities.
  3. Collaboratively with students and colleagues, examine and facilitate improvements to systems, policies, and practices to increase access and inclusive achievement for students with marginalized identities.

Our Mission

Through services, programming, and advocacy centering Western students with marginalized identities, the Centers for Student Access, Community, and Intercultural Engagement advance holistic student development and inclusive achievement. We increase access, equity, and inclusion for Western students by collaboratively transforming structures, policies, and practices. We build learning spaces that foster community, focusing on topics of equity, justice, race, ethnicity, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, nationality, religion, socio-economic status, and veteran status.
